Health Professional Online Services (HPOS) offers you improved access to Medicare Australia’s online services for health professionals through a single entry point.

HPOS provides access to information on your eligibility for Medicare and information necessary for the processing and payment of your claims. In addition HPOS services are in real-time.

Location certificates will provide access to the Patient Verification facility only. When utilising location certificates to access HPOS each computer must have the location certificate installed

 

ACSS doesn’t support HPOS site certificates but we can assist in its installation. Once access to HPOS is confirmed you will have to contact Medicare for additional assistance and support.

 

If you see a message saying that the site certificate needs to be renewed please refer to site certificate renewal.

 

You will require:

The site certificate CD

PIC password (passphrase)

 

Follow the steps below to install and access HPOS.

Insert the CD

Explore/open the CD till you see the files below

Double click on fac_encrypt.p12

Follow the on screen steps

• Click Next
• Click Next
• Enter the PIC password then click Next
• Click Next
• Click Finish
• Click Yes, Then Yes again (if it pops up)
• Click OK to finalise the setup

Double click on fac_sign.p12

Follow the on screen steps

• Click Next
• Click Next
• Enter the PIC password then click Next
• Click Next
• Click Finish

Open the Internet browser software such as Internet Explorer or Chrome.

Go to the website – http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/hpos/index.jsp

Click PKI Site certificate in the top right hand corner of the screen.

 

Click I Agree

Now you should be logged into HPOS

 

Important: each computer that needs to access the HPOS page will need the certificate installed on that local machine.
