Date of Service or Service date refers to the date that the service or episode occurred.

Billing Date is the date that the invoice was created.

A patient comes for a consultation on the 6th of April but the billing doesn’t occur until the 8th of April.

In this case the Date of Service is the 6th of April and the Billing Date is the 8th of April.

If you want to verify the transactions against the scheduler, reports should be created using date of service. For financial reports it may be necessary to create reports using billing date. Select this under Date Type in the top right of the screen when you generate the report.
