Restoring an eClaims Backup
Restoring an eClaims backup after Data Corruption or System Failure may be required if the current data is beyond repair.
You will require the backup file with the _full in the file name and the file will need to be created within 3 months of the latest backup file you have. Two (2) backup files are required to perform an eClaims restore, unless your latest backup file is the one that contains the _full in the filename.
To Restore a Backup:
Insert Backup Media and locate Device on the Server.
Locate the eClaims backup file i.e. 08031200.bdf and/or 08031200_full.bdf.
*Â 08 -> indicates the year
*Â 03 -> indicates the month
* 12 -> indicates the day
*Â 00 -> indicates backup number for that day
* _full -> indicates the backup is a full backup
Install eClaims Server on the PC/Server. Click here on how to install eClaims Server.
Once installed navigate to the eClaims directory (eg; C:\eclmpluswin) and rename the Data folder.
Open the full backup file (the one with _full in the file name) using a Zip Extracting application i.e. WinZip, 7Zip. Alternately you can rename the extension to .ZIP and use the extraction utility in Windows.
Extract the Data folder to the eclmpluswin folder on the server. If other folders exist (eg; cust, documents, clinical) extract them also to the same eclmpluswin folder.
If your latest backup file is the full backup then skip the next zip extraction step below.
Open the next backup file (this will be your latest backup) using a Zip Extracting application i.e. WinZip, 7Zip. Alternately you can rename the extension to .ZIP and use the extraction utility in Windows.
If a prompt to overwrite files appears, accept Yes.
After the extraction is complete Run eClaims and perform checks for data integrity.
Note :Â The Partial Backup only restores the Data folder which includes database tables, the location certificate, 3 months worth of letters and templates from date of backup. The Full Backup will contain all letters and templates in the data folder.
The backup does not restore the Utils folder which includes:
These need to be restored separately if applicable.
